~~ a moment to rest and dine ~~
We finally found the sofa and dining table that matched our house theme..
Last week, we went to Furniture mall to take a look at some furniture shops, designs and etc. Decent selection and the pricing wasn't that expensive..
Beware of "today-is-the-last-day-of-offer" hard sell tactic that they have..
Don't fall for it..

This week, we went to Kaki Bukit to look at showrooms there.. expecting a good price from the furniture shop there (since it's so out of the way).
Boy.. we sure were surprised. We were very disappointed with their quotation. The quotation wasn't cheaper than getting from furniture shops in Great world city (eg. V-Hive or White collection).

In the end we went to Lorenzo and straight away loved their selections of sofa and dining table.

The sofa will be similar to the below picture, but with different color though... We asked them to change the color of our sofa, it'll be beige at the bottom (frame) and dark brown for the cushions

And .. a glimpse of what the top of our dining table looks like..
I just love the pattern on the table top..
With the dining table selected, we just need to get a dining table light for our place.. time to visit Vlux again..

.. to mask and to hide ..
Another item off our list: curtains
We went to Jimmy Textiles to confirm that we're gonna get them to do our curtains..
We need 2 sets of day-and-night curtains for the living room and master bedroom, and we're putting roman blinds in the guest rooms.
As for the study room, we're placing a set of roller blind at the window

Their quotation wasn't the cheapest, but heck, their material selection is quite extensive..

No pictures for these .. as we have not confirmed the color of the fabric ..

~~ mindless intermission~~
We succumbed to modern day entertainment and bought TV sets at Best Denki..
After a long consideration and comparison, we settled with a 37" TV for our living room and 27" TV for our bedroom.
We ended up feeling really broke, but we both really like our selections of the TV, so much thinking went into selecting these TVs.
A point to note, the salesmen Best Denki people were quite friendly to us..
They better be, with the amount of money we're spending in their shop....
:-)

We wanted to get BOTH TVs from Samsung, but we felt Samsung's larger LCD doesn't really have a good contrast and the image was not as sharp as Philips'. So it's 37PF7321 and LA27S71B for the TVs.

Pictures are taken from the manufacturers's websites..

Some observations on the major electronic shops in Singapore:
  • Audio House has a reasonable pricing for their electronic goods, however it probably ranks ah-beng attitude as their highest requirement for salesmen.
  • Courts charges exorbitant prices for their TVs and sofas.
  • Harvey Norman has a very elaborate sound system setup at their Millenia Walk store.. it's very good to be able to compare different sound system in a condusive room.
  • Best Denki has totally unattractive pricing for their fridge and washing machines.
~~ breezy nest ~~
We took a walk down Balestier.. and stumbled upon a light shop that was selling fans at quite reasonable price: another thing added to snowflake's treasure..
Fan for the master bedroom

Fans for the other bedrooms..
