Moved in!!

Hi!!
Shouldn't have many updates now that the renovation have completed.
I foresee this is to be my second last update for this blog.

I have moved into my new place last week. That was a horrifying experience, the mover decided to increase the price last minute. He came, doubled the price, then we negotiated, and settled for an extra $20 for the moving.
Not a good experience.
Avoid at all cost: Name of mover: Wah 96265782 . Avoid at all cost.
Office (Soon Hup): 67841592
Did I mention to avoid the above mover company at all cost?

After I moved in, we got metal shelves for our household shelter.
Hole in the pocket: $280.
Would recommend the company anytime: Yee Sin (64547335).

Anyway, some pics to compare the design and the actual pictures..

sofa, dining chairs and guest room bed

A short update..
Lorenzo delivered the sofa today, but they were only able to deliver the dining table next week, so they loaned us a table for us to use in the meantime.
The bedframe and mattress for the guest room was also delivered along with the bedside table. Another items that we got to complete our study room, we bought some chairs from Vhive, and spent a quick 15 minutes assembling them..
As all the renovation works have been completed, we paid the last payment to our ID.. he'll still help us do some touch up for our apartment though.

Our interior designer: Mike Koh is one guy I strongly recommend if you're looking for a reliable, knowledgeable and dependable interior designer.

electrical appliances deliveries, painting touch up

Last week, the electrical appliances were delivered..

Firstly it was the refrigerator and the washing machine..
It was pretty easy to install them..

While waiting for the rest to be delivered, the painters came to touch up on the painting.. He was one of grouchy guy.. Didn't like the fellow.. did a sloppy job too..
Had to request another painter to come down the following week (this week) to touch up on what Mr. Grouchy did.
Mr. This-week-painter-touch-up turned out to be a very friendly guy with a good quality painting..
:-)

Anyway, the TVs were also delivered last week..

Installation of the TV on the walls was easy, the hard part was getting the cabling done..

we had to wait for the Home Theater system to be delivered.. and this had to be the last item to be delivered.

and after the Onkyo system came ..
It was time to install the cables.. red wires to red wires, blue wires to blue wires , yellow -> yellow.. etc etc

End results:

Living room TV:

Bedroom TV:

Surround speakers

Plumber came and installed the tap for the master bathroom..

Before forgetting, I would like to express my thanks to a colleague of mine, Mr. CP, who has kindly lent me his vacuum cleaner to help in the cleaning up of my place.

Also another thanks for my friend, Mr. JH, for helping me getting the audio and video cabling done.

Next items to deliver: sofa, dining table and guest room beds..

clean up, parquet.. and curtains

On Tuesday, they made the parquet shiny.
haha.. that sounded pretty dumb.
I'm not too sure on how to call the process, but what basically they did was to sand and varnish the parquet flooring.. so it'll look shiny..
Hence my succinct but silly opening sentence ..

On Monday, they started installing the mirror and the glasses needed for our furnitures.. started installing the mirror in the living room.. not finished yet.. still have some others that they need to install..

On Friday, the contractor cleaned up our unit..
acid washing process or something like that..
whatever it is.. our unit came out sparkling clean..
oh well.. maybe not super clean.. but it looks much much cleaner than previously..

The people from Jimmy Textiles came and installed the curtains.
They're the first installers who actually told me that the installations are gonna be boring, and tell me that it'd take 2 hours to complete, and in the meantime, I could go somewhere and come back again in 2 hours.
Anyway, I went to buy some a fan for the flat, and came back when they finished their installation. I bought a 12" floor fan from Homefix for $31.90. Not bad. :-)

Living room

They finally managed to build the console for the master bedroom
The center panel opens up for the TV, and part of the bottom panel will open to allow access to the DVD player.

As a side warning for those of you who want to set up a home theatre system.. please take note.. component cables are expensive!
HDMI cables are even MORE expensive.
:-)
Stick to RCA cables if you are not too particular about how your images appear on your TV..
